Love Lockdown

My Joey loves to sing. He sings all the time. He sings church songs, songs from cartoons, Christmas songs, made up songs, hip-hop songs, rock songs, country songs, old school jazz songs, and everything else he has ever heard.

The other day we were in the car listening to the radio when Kanye West's song "Love Lockdown" came on the radio. The tribal drum beats drew him in and I knew he was immediately hooked. Every time we get in the car he asks me to try and find it on the radio and after hearing the song only twice he memorized it enough to sing parts of the verse and all of the chorus.

I wish I could get Joey to sing on video for me because I'm not sure there is anything more hilariously cute than watching him walk around the house thumping out the beat to this song on his legs and belting out the words to the chorus. It is just so funny watching this tiny, little, angelic faced boy singing these serious words with so much fervor.

Can you picture it?

(The chorus part that Joey loves to sing comes in at around 58 seconds.)

That is so cute. I love it when kids sing and even make up their own songs. That song is a catchy one.

I love it when my kids sing! They belt out the tune at the top of their lungs and all I can do is just smile at their "cuteness"!

that is too funny to imagine him singing that but on a serious note...feed that musical inclination. i have one who was driven by music from infancy like that. joey must be wired for it too.

Kat said...

Lime- Oh yes. We are definitely a musical family. He will (as will Tommy and Ben because it seems they are all musical) strongly encouraged to explore his talent (muscial or otherwise).

He's absolutely adorable! You have gorgeous kids. I'm hoping DH gets my my flip camera so I can do little videos of Meggers singing and doing her crazy rhymes..lol

I can only imagine his talent, why wasn't his mummy in the theater? ~grin~ I betcha it's just darling!

Kirst- Are you teasing me?
I was in theater for years and years. I used to do 4 or 5 shows a season. I come from a long line of singers. My mom and dad are fantastic!

Joey may be the singer but the other boys really like singing and music too. It will be interesting to see where their intrests lie as they get older. Tommy is extremely artistic even at 3 years old and all he wants to do is draw. But we'll see. They may grow up and not have any interest in the arts. Or they may be obsessed like me. Ya just never know. :)

And yet again, I have had to catch up on no less than 8 posts. Why? because my husband was off shift for an entire week. Bliss, but no blog surfing for me!

That's a great song, very catchy. I don't think it would have the same appeal were it not for the bass line. It sounds very parade-y doesn't it? I bet he's cute singing it, thinking about it made me smile. My favourite is listening to my 4 yr old singing songs and making up words. So funny.

My Kathryn is the same way, she sings EVERYTHING! My current fav is when she sings I Want It All from HSM3. It comes complete with cute booty shaking ;-)

How cute is that?? Love that he is your singer.

I too think nothing is sweeter than a little one belting out a tune!

My Goose is like that. The kiddo sings non-stop. It's how she wakes up every morning, goes to sleep every night, etc. She also has started picking up on stuff that's on the radio. When she asked about the "Kissed the Girl" song, we started listening to CD's!

I love it! I can totally see why he loves that part of the song :)

He is such a cutie. A video clip would be awesome!

Love that he sings. That is too cute (and he is a cutie too BTW). Miss A is a singer too and I have to watch what we listen to on the radio as some songs would not be appropriate for a 2 year old to belt out. Post a video of him!

My little Emma sings all the time, and most loudly when she is in the bathroom doing...well,,,you know...
I love that she is so uninhibited (most of the time I love it).
Encourage them in the arts. It's so good for them.

Joey Rocks. But you already knew that, didn't you? ; )

My stepson is the same way. He loves music and musical instruments. We're hoping to get him involved in choir at church.
His new fave song is "Love Story" by Taylor Swift! *giggle*

Words To Live By

Be grateful for each new day.
A new day that you have never lived before.
Twenty-four new, fresh, unexplored hours to use usefully and profitably.
We can squander, neglect, or use them.
Life will be richer or poorer by the way we use today.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
You shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be
encumbered with your old nonsense.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
